Cleveland Browns must-have free agents: Defensive End

Jadeveon Clowney, Grade A: Bringing back Clowney should be a priority as the defense can’t afford to loosen up the pass rush they’re able to generate, especially because of deficiencies on the inside when it comes to pressuring the quarterback.

Like Myles Garrett, Clowney was once the No. 1 pick in the draft, but in 2021, the South Carolina product is better to play a No. 2 role opposite of someone like Garrett.

It’d be great for the Browns to get him back on a two-year contract for $8-$9 million per season–with incentives. Not sure Clowney’s going to go for that sum after putting together a decent season.

Derek Barnett, Eagles, Grade B:  Grossi acknowledges Barnett is a former first-rounder who went bust, adding, that’s why he’s available.

He’d be a rotational piece on the Browns roster, which isn’t the worst thing, assuming they can bring back Clowney.

This might be one to watch as there is an Andrew Berry connection stemming from his time in Philly while John Dorsey was running the Browns.

Charles Harris: Lions, Grade B: Like Barnett, a rotational piece. That said, he may have more upside. The 2017 first-rounder is just 26 years old and in his fifth season, he totaled the most sacks of his career (7.5), while playing with his third team.
