The Cleveland Browns had 10 ex-players land in the USFL.

The Cleveland Browns will be well represented when the United States Football League (USFL) starts play later this spring. Eight of the USFL teams took 10 former Browns players in their inaugural draft that finished earlier this week.

Now, none of the names that got drafted in the USFL league draft are household names, save for maybe one, and that’s only because his name is pretty unique. The rest are guys that you may know or remember briefly if you’re a diehard Browns fan.

I cover this team and even I had a hard time remembering some of these dudes.  We know Kyle Lauletta is one of the names, having gone in the first round to the Pittsburgh Maulers, and hey, who knows? Maybe if he does well the other Pittsburgh team will come calling to see if he can’t replace that other Pittsburgh quarterback.

But who are the others?

Who are the 10 former Cleveland Browns who landed in the USFL?

CB Brian Allen – Birmingham Stallions

The most recent player to get actual time on the team was Brian Allen, who played for the team just this past season.

LB Scooby Wright – Birmingham Stallions

Scooby Wright was a seventh-round pick in 2016 and became a relative fan favorite due to his collegiate play and his awesome first-name. He’s also one of the few, if maybe the only player, to have played in the AAF, the XFL, and now the USFL.

CB Howard Wilson – Houston Gramblers

Howard Wilson was a fourth-round pick in 2017 but a knee injury derailed his opportunity with the team.

CB James Houston – Michigan Panthers

James Houston had a brief tenure as an undrafted free agent during the 2020 offseason and preseason.

LB D’Juan Hines -LB – New Jersey Generals

D’Juan Hines was signed by the Browns from the Chargers practice squad where he played a decent amount of snaps in 2018 but was cut before the 2019 NFL Draft.

WR J’Mon Moore – New Jersey Generals

Another practice squad player, J’Mon Moore was on the team in 2019 and 2020 but got cut before the start of the 2020 season

WR Taywan Taylor – New Orleans Breakers

Taywan Taylor played for the Cleveland Browns in 2019 and 2020, after being traded to the team from the Titans.

CB Channing Stribling – Philadelphia Stars

Channing Stribling played for the Browns for a brief time in 2017 as a member of the practice squad.

QB Kyle Lauletta – Pittsburgh Maulers

The first-round pick of the USFL Maulers spent time on the Browns practice squad twice in his career.

WR Derrick Willies – Tampa Bay Bandits

A player primarily on the practice squad the last four seasons, he was just waived by the Browns.
