Who should the Browns draft at WR? Chris Olave has entered the chat
By Chad Porto
The Cleveland Browns may be looking at Chris Olave after his stunning combine.
The Cleveland Browns are likely going receiver at No.13 in the 2022 NFL Draft. The two big names that people are associating the Browns with are OSU’s Garrett Wilson and USC’s Drake London. Wilson ran a 4.37 40-yard dash at the combine this week, while London has the size and boundary-breaking skills that make him a nightmare to cover against the sideline.
In a perfect world, the Browns would get both men and call it a day. That’s not the case, and they’re no longer the only two names the Browns need to be keeping an eye on; enter Chris Olave.
Olave is Wilson’s Ohio State teammate and while Wilson hit an extremely impressive 40-time of 4.37, Olave topped his OSU teammate with an incredible 4.26 40-time. For some reason, those running the combine later changed it to a 4.39, but the eyes see what they see.

Speed isn’t everything but the Cleveland Browns lack it.
The Browns are going to need more than just speed to win in 2022, but it’s sure going to help things. Especially on offense, where the team is below average at best with regards to speed. Now, that’s not a bad thing at first glance, Kevin Stefanski’s offense is designed to be slow and methodical. That’s the whole point, kill the clock, control the game, score when needed. The problem is that sometimes the defense isn’t as reliable as needed and the Browns need to keep pace.
The Browns aren’t built to keep pace. Just control it. So the team needs speed on offense. Luckily, the Browns have a deep buffet of speed to chose from this year’s draft class. It should be noted that the blow listing is not about talent but specifically their 40-times.
Tyquan Thornton, for example, is the fastest sprinter in the group, but he’s a projected third-day, a sixth-round pick. While London, who didn’t run at the combine, is seen by many as possibly being the second-overall pick (according to WalterFootball.com).
- Tyquan Thornton (4.28)
- Velus Jones (4.31)
- Calvin Austin (4.32)
- Alec Pierce, Danny Gray (4.33)
- Bo Melton (4.34)
- Christian Watson (4.36)
- Garrett Wilson (4.38)
- Chris Olave (4.39)
- Skyy Moore (4.41)
- Isaiah Weston (4.42)
- Jahan Dotson, Khalil Shakir, Kevin Austin Jr.(4.43)
The Browns have a lot of options at the draft, and that’s a good thing, especially if they want the best possible evaluation of Baker Mayfield before offering him a nice new deal.
