Cleveland Browns pick No. 13: Garrett Wilson, WR, Ohio State

It’s hard not envision big things from Garrett Wilson, especially after the Buckeye ran a 4.38 40-yard dash last last week’s combine.

As Brugler pointed out, Wilson has average size, but his speed separates him from the class because of his ability to create space.

Speed is something the Browns need to add to the passing game, especially after the failed OBJ experiment. Donovan Peoples-Jones is fast, but he’s no burner. Anthony Schwartz has the kids of speed that defenses have to respect, but obviously, he’s still has a lot to prove.

There isn’t anyone who loves the Buckeyes and Browns who wouldn’t be thrilled with this pick. The size is more of a concern for me because it’s been noted how Cleveland quarterback Baker Mayfield can’t see from the pocket.

Small QB. Small WR. I don’t like it. Alas, the next freelance check I get from the scouting department will be the first.

Wilson is Bruger’s first wide receiver off the board, and that seems to be wishful thinking. I don’t even think the Browns get the chance to take Wilson, as he’ll go to the Falcons at No. 8. Atlanta needs something offensively after being told they’ll be without Calvin Ridley for the entire season.

My next choice would be Arkansas’ Treylon Burks, who goes 24th in Brugler’s mock.

Fans are talking about signing D.K. Metcalf, or coming away with Amari Cooper…fix this problem with elite player on a rookie contract in the draft. Edge rusher is tempting, but hopefully Andrew Berry doesn’t overthink this one.
