Cleveland Cavaliers complete another dramatic comeback

The Cleveland Cavaliers rallied from another double-digit deficit to secure a 113-109 win over division rivals Detroit Pistons. After trailing by double-digits in the second half, the Cavs raced back late to steal another huge victory at home.

Playing catchup for most of the third quarter, Cleveland suddenly erupted for a 31-9 scoring avalanche that stretched into the final period, allowing them to take a double-figure lead for the first time in the game.

A resilient Detroit side rallied back in the last few minutes, but a balanced Cavaliers effort thwarted any chance for another collapse to secure their third victory in four games during this homestand.

All-Star guard Darius Garland continued his streak of double-doubles by finishing win a team-high 24 points while dishing out a game-high 12 assists and joining five other Cavaliers players tallying 11 points or more against the Pistons: Cedi Osman, Lamar Stevens, and Kevin Love combined for 45 markers and all played vital roles in the balanced offensive attack.

Cavs tighten hold on the sixth spot in the standings

Cleveland looked in trouble after falling into old habits, but a much more active defensive effort coming off the halftime break helped spark a momentous run that finally led to the exciting finish.

After allowing Jerami Grant to dominate with 27 huge points in the first half, the pesky Cavs defense frustrated the Pistons star to limit him to just 13 the rest of the way. Despite being tired from carrying much of the load against the Denver Nuggets less than 24 hours ago, Rookie of the Year frontrunner Evan Mobley and Lauri Markkanen bucked tired legs to help lift the team to another win in the endgame.

Following another crucial victory, the third in their last four games, the team moved up to 41-30 to remain in sixth place but only half a game behind the skidding Chicago Bulls, as well as 1.5 games ahead of the Toronto Raptors whom they still hold a head-to-head tiebreaker advantage over.

After back-to-back games, the Cleveland Cavaliers finally get a day off ahead of hosting the Los Angeles Lakers on the 21st for their final assignment in the five-game homestand.
