Trying to figure out which Cleveland Browns rumor is more ridiculous: Odell Beckham Jr. returning to Cleveland or the idea of the Steelers trading for Baker Mayfield.

Let’s start with Beckham: No. 1 he’s hurt from an ACL tear suffered during the Super Bowl. Even though Beckham worked furiously to return from that injury when he suffered it in 2020, it’s going to be an uphill climb for him to get back onto the field in 2022.

It’s simple math. Beckham first ACL tear came in Cincinnati on Oct. 25,  2020. He missed the first two games of the 2021 campaign and returned Sept. 26, 2021 against the Bears. That’s 11 months.

His latest ACL tear came Feb. 13 in the Super Bowl.. If everything goes like it did the first time, that means Beckham would be ready to get back on the field sometime in January. Roll the dice and throw him out there for a playoff game?!

It’s going to be a crazy Browns season and this rumor sticks to the theme.

Baker laughable rumor: Cleveland Browns trade Baker to Steelers

The other major clickbait out there is the idea of Mayfield going to the Steelers. Never mind they’re the only team basically admitting their interest in the quarterbacks available in this year’s draft.

Here’s what longtime Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Gerry Dulac wrote when asked by a reader to squash the rumor.

"“First off, it’s not news — it’s mindless, uninformed pontification by people who have no clue what’s happening here. So no need to squash.”"

Also, the rumor is so good, everyone seems to forget Pittsburgh signed another Mayfield: His name is Mitchell Trubisky. The Mentor product, like Mayfield, did enjoy some success with his first team, but eventually, the team that drafted him ran out of patience.

Being a former first-round pick means you get more than one chance, though, and the Steelers are hoping Trubisky blossoms in Pittsburgh. It’s Cleveland’s second greatest nightmare, perhaps behind Mayfield going there and winning four Super Bowls.

Next. Baker holding up business, cap space never this low. dark

If Mayfield were to become a free agent, never rule out the possibility of him going the Steelers, but a trade? Nonsense.
