Anyone else worried that Deshaun Watson had worries about Cleveland’s climate? It’s one of the reasons Watson initially ruled out the Browns, according to the owners, via Cleveland.com.

It’s a concern, but one that could quickly be vanquished if Watson is as good a quarterback as the Browns believe–and they believe he’s top five.

The truly great ones succeed, no matter the weather and no matter the offensive scheme and we’ll get answers to this question when Watson plays games at FirstEnergy come late fall.

Browns trade for Watson falls on Andrew Berry

Jimmy Haslam didn’t convince everyone that the front office didn’t conceive the Trade for Deshaun Watson during his Zoom press conference with the media last week. However, in front of reporters during the meetings, the owner reiterated that Andrew Berry was the “driving force” behind the deal.

"“I know there’s a perception out there, but we don’t tell Andrew what to do,’’ Haslam told Cleveland.com. “He brought it to us and said, ‘this is what I think would get it done.’”"

Dee Haslam added that Berry won’t be blamed if the Watson trade isn’t a success, but one gets the feeling that if this doesn’t work out for Cleveland, we’re going to see a re-run of past blow ups.

I just can’t imagine a scenario where everyone keeps their job if Watson doesn’t work out.

Going back to the climate issue, when discussing the matter, Watson said he wants to the throw the ball 40 times a game, as noted by Jimmy Haslam.

"“[He’s like] I’m a quarterback. I want to throw the ball 40 times,’” Haslam said said."

It’s going to be interesting to see how coach Kevin Stefanski balances things out with the rushing attack of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. The Browns averaged 62 players per game last season, and if Watson’s throw 40 times, that leaves 22 carries to split between Chubb and Hunt.

Something to think about as Stefanski moves a way from game manager Baker Mayfield to playmaker Watson.
