The Cleveland Guardians have some strengths heading into 2022.

I feel bad sometimes because most other websites like ours have to cover one team all year round, but we get three (sometimes more if the minor pro teams step up). Now it’s time for my personal favorite of the three to begin playing. Yes, we’re getting ready for some baseball, finally, in 2022, as the Cleveland Guardians open up on April 7. That’s just two days away from press time, and the team has some real reasons to be excited.

Yes, the club doesn’t have a lot of money, mostly because Cleveland just isn’t much of a baseball town, but the club still finds a way to get the team to be its best self each and every season. With club president Chris Antonetti and GM Mike Chernoff, the Guardians have always found a way to stay competitive under their regime. You know, barring injury.

They cultivate strength after strength. So what strengths will the team rely on heading into 2022?

Pitching

The Cleveland Guardians are going to once again rely on their rotation, a rotation that is on the verge of breaking out and truly dominating the league. The Ace of the AL is back to form with Shane Bieber healthy and ready to go. Then you have Zach Plesac, who is a steady and reliable option after Bieber. Then you have youth like Triston McKenzie and Cal Quantrill ready to go. Aaron Civale had a good spring and the bullpen may be just good enough to shock people.

Front office and coaching

The Guards have some real talent behind the scenes. They’ve not only built guys like Jose Ramirez a once flailing shortstop, into a third-base MVP candidate but they’re quite capable of turning Mike Clevinger and Corey Kluber types into new pieces of their franchise. Even if certain names get moved, the team will always find a way to replenish their roster and build them up as time goes on.

What more needs to be said here, other than; the 2022 AL MVP.

Book it.
