2022 Cleveland Browns 7-round mock draft misses chance to add starter
Round 4, pick 118: Cleveland Browns pick Cade Otton, TE, Washington-Grade B
Current No. 1 Browns tight end David Njoku has had quite the ride during his five-year Cleveland career. From No. 1 pick to requesting a trade to consistently appearing on “most likely to be cut” columns, the Browns franchise tagged him and are reportedly working on an extension with the Miami product.
Njoku possesses big-play ability, which is something Austin Hooper just didn’t have. With Harrison Bryant moving up to the No. 2 tight end spot, there’s room for a third tight end in an offense where head coach Kevin Stefanski loves utilizing the position.
The pre-draft homework shows Otton to excel in route running, whether it’s against zone or man-to-man coverage and he has some good hands. Plus, he was asked to block in Washington’s rushing attack.
For a fourth-round pick at a position in need of depth, Otto would be a good pickup.
