Mock #1

DT. Perrion Winfrey. 44. . player. 53. Pick Analysis. Oklahoma. Scouting Report

The Browns need a defensive tackle and why not Perrion Winfrey? He’s the best available defensive tackle in most drafts and the team needs some serious help inside. It’s not like you can just look at guys like Jordan Elliot and Tommy Togiai and expect these projects to actually pan out. They are projects for a reason and projects fail more than they succeed in the NFL. Winfrey instantly becomes one of the best tackles on the team, right next to recently signed Taven Bryan.

53. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Wisconsin. Leo Chenal. 78. player. LB

Ignore the fact he’s a linebacker, that doesn’t matter in today’s NFL. He’s the same exact size as Chase Wniovich but he’s faster.  If Winovich is big enough to play the line, so is Chenal. Chenal is also a great coverage linebacker, so he’s multi-faceted and if he pans out, could be a great compliment not only to Myles Garrett but to Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.

Cincinnati. 99. . player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. WR. Alec Pierce. 53

Alec Pierce is someone I’m hoping is still there come the third round but if he’s not the Browns may have missed out on a great passing option. He’s a far more athletic Brian Finneran, a tall option that you can count on to be a real player in jump-ball scenarios.

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. WR. Clemson. Justyn Ross. 118.. player. 53

Justyn Ross isn’t fast for an NFL receiver, pulling in a 4.63 to 4.87 40-time, but he’s 6’4 and 200 lbs. That’s pretty good for a receiver. May be all you need to get something out of him.

Scouting Report. DE. Costal Carolina. 53. Pick Analysis. Jeffrey Gunter. 202.. player

The Browns need depth at the defensive line position and one tackle isn’t enough. Jeffrey Gunter isn’t going to be Myles Garrett but he could give you depth at defensive end but also big enough to play a smaller defensive tackle role.

Amari Carter. player. Pick Analysis. Safety. Miami University. Scouting Report. 223.. 53

At this point, you’re just hoping for a project or two that pans out. The Browns are going to be moving on from higher-priced guys in 2023 when these extensions start coming in, and that means guys like John Johnson may be on the chopping block. You’re going to need someone like Amari Carter to compete.

player. Luke Wattenberg. 246.. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. C/G. Washington University. 53

Joel Bitonio is going to be 32 and making a lot of money by the time these new deals kick in. While Bitonio is a borderline Hall of Famer right now, this Brown’s front office cares little about guys and their reputations on the team. They’ll quite literally sell their soul to win. So a guy like Wattenberg makes sense if they intend on moving on from the Hall of Fame candidate sooner rather than later.
