6. QB Baker Mayfield, 2018 – 1st Overall

This is going to make some Baker Haters real mad, but the man has earned the right to be this high on the list. Baker Mayfield will go down as one of the more maligned and arguably controversial players in recent Browns memory, that’s no doubt. Yet, his story is one that isn’t done being told. He has a cannon for an arm and guts for days, but his body failed him in 2021. Arguably, however, not as bad as the coaching staff did.

Mayfield is fourth all-time in passing yards, fourth all-time in touchdowns thrown has a higher touchdown to pass percentage than Brian Sipe and Bernie Kosar, has a higher completion percentage of a Browns quarterback inside the Top 15 of passing yards in club history, and took the team to its first playoff appearance in 18 years.

He’s far from a bust and has proven to be a viable, playoff-winning, NFL starter. While there may be better quarterbacks in the league right now, that doesn’t change the fact he was more than capable to do the job asked of him.
