4 players the Cleveland Browns can’t afford to lose in 2022
By Chad Porto
These four players will be the glue that keeps the Cleveland Browns together in 2022.
Now before we all get into it, let’s just admit one thing; there is no replacing your starting quarterback or your team MVP. For the Cleveland Browns, these are two different people. The first being ol’ 25-accusations himself, Deshaun Watson, the other being Nick Chubb. I don’t like Watson, but I’m not going to lie about his talents. He’s very good at this football thing.
So doing a list of guys you can’t afford to lose in 2022 would obviously include those two names. Yet, that’s too easy. “Here’s a list of four guys you already know the team needs”. Eh, been done. No, we’re looking more at the unsung heroes of the Browns team, guys you can’t afford to lose beyond the obvious.
Case in point, Jack Conklin and Chris Hubbard last year. They aren’t seen as conventionally necessary guys, as the media only puts over position players, but losing your best offensive linemen sunk the o-line’s ability to protect then starter Baker Mayfield. Not having Hubbard ensured that there was no viable backup to replace him.
Those are the types of names we’re going to be looking at here. Guys who had the impact but maybe not the numbers to make it onto these types of lists otherwise.
So with that, let’s look at four players the team can’t afford to be without for too many, if any, games in 2022.
