The Cleveland Cavaliers have some options in round two, like Jake Laravia.

With three picks in the 2022 NBA Draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers are looking at some really interesting opportunities. I’m of the mindset that the team should trade guys like Caris LeVert, Dylan Windler, and some other less involved players for a nice shiny new forward. Then restock the team’s depth through this draft. That’s what I would do, and why I think a player like Jake Laravia is so intriguing.

Laravia is a 6’9 guard, who will likely play a more point-forward role in the NBA, with decent shooting splits, good size, and a nice physicality about himself. Some even see him as a potential great defender, while others believe his floor is that of a guy who isn’t a liability.

The Cavs have a few of those cats already and need to avoid adding more. His ability to stretch the floor, pass, and rebound may have him becoming a steal, that is if he’s still there in the second round. He’s quickly moving up the draft boards to his apparent talents, size, and versatility.

The Cleveland Cavaliers should try and draft Jake Laravia

It’s unclear who the Cavs are targeting in the first round. Many hope it’s Malaki Branham, an intriguing prospect but one that would be buried on the Cavaliers bench for a few seasons. In the second, things are even less obvious.

Laravia is just one of many names the Cavs could go after. He may still be there with their first pick in the second round, but I doubt he’ll be there near the end of the draft when they pick again. The Cavs may have an interest in him, but if he slips past the #39 pick and is there at pic #56, it’s unlikely the Cavs draft him.

There’s a rumor going around that the Cavs want to use the #14 and #39 pick on guys who could help now, while the #56 pick is used on a foreign player who they’d keep the rights to but said player would remain in the league he’s currently in.

If that’s what they do, then the only option to really see him get picked is at #39. So if that doesn’t happen, it’s likely he goes elsewhere on draft night.
