Three Cleveland Cavaliers looking at a minutes reduction in 2022-20223.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking like they’re going to have a roster problem in 2022. A good roster problem. An abundance of talent and not enough minutes for everyone to get. The Cavs are looking to make a trade, which may alleviate the problem of too many talents who need minutes. Yet, if the trade for Christian Wood is any sign, the Cavaliers may be able to get a big name for not a lot of talent.

The Cavs are also looking at getting in on the free-agent market. If they’re able to bring back Ricky Rubio and retain Collin Sexton while swapping out a piece like Caris LeVert or Isaac Okoro, then the roster will be properly bloated. That’s not even factoring in any foreign league talent or undrafted free agents the team may go after.

Yet, just like all those TV advertisers would say; but wait, there’s more!

The Cavaliers have three draft picks in the upcoming NBA Draft, and hopefully, the Cavs capitalize on all three picks and don’t trade them away. Healthy teams find talent and develop them, they don’t trade them away for aging pieces.

That’s the hope with this Cavs team, that they don’t rush the development by going in on a declining Bradley Beal. Assuming they don’t do anything foolish and just add complementary pieces to the core, there are reasons to believe that some players won’t get minutes or will get dramatically fewer minutes in 2022-2023
