Isaac Okoro

Admittedly, I can see this going either way. Depending on what the team does this offseason, I could see Isaac Okoro getting 30+ minutes a game or 10+ minutes a game. Okoro has shown a lot of potential as a solid wing defender, but considering he was a top-five pick, he’s got to be better than solid.

He’s currently a negative box plus-minus player and that’s not going to work if this team is going to be a serious contender in the playoffs. If he can’t get things together, then there’s no real reason for him to play more than minimal minutes as a reserve.

This isn’t to say he still can’t get better, he’s only 21, but his ceiling isn’t that high and his floor is very low. He has to get better defensively because right now, offensively speaking, he’s not capable of hanging with elite teams.

The Cavs could make Okoro expendable if a trade materializes for a starter at his position. It seems unlikely the team would sit Lauri Markkanen over Okoro, and one of them would have to sit if a trade is made or someone steps up that’s drafted.

There’s also reason to believe that the Cavs could trade him, or anyone on this list, as well. Which would obviously reduce his minutes with the Cavaliers quite considerably.
