3 final rumors surrounding the Cleveland Cavaliers on Draft Day

Dejounte Murray to Cleveland?
The Cleveland Cavaliers are being linked to San Antonio Spurs guard Dejounte Murray. This isn’t new, as Chris Fedor claimed the Cavaliers came calling around February about the first-time All-Stars availability. Right now Murray is being linked to the Atlanta Hawks as part of a deal that could see the Hawks get Murray in exchange for John Collins and some other bits.
That’s the core of the trade idea, however Murray for Collins.
Honestly, let them get Murray. Murray is a fine guard, and a good enough point guard to lead a team’s offense. He is not, however, a good fit for the Cavaliers. He’s a good defender and is long enough that you could have him be a key defender on a team, yet in the case of the Cavaliers, he’s not joining a team that doesn’t have an established All-Star point guard.
The Cavs would not acquire Murray to have him come off the bench, meaning his skillset better compliment Darius Garland’s which it doesn’t. He’s a terrible pull-up jumper, and an even worse catch-and-shoot style player. He needs the ball in his hands to play well, which means taking the ball out of Garland’s hands.
It’s a trade that would improve the team’s defense but hurt them everywhere else. He’s simply not a good enough shooter.
