The Cleveland Guardians have now won seven straight series.

The Cleveland Guardians are sitting in first place after taking yet another series during their latest stretch of games. The latest one, against the Minnesota Twins, saw the Guards take sole possession of first for an entire day before having to share it once again with the Twins.

The team is 18-6 in their last 24 and has righted the ship after a very rough start to the season.

Some are trying to undercut the Guardians’ stretch by saying the “AL Central is weak”, yet, it isn’t the AL Central the Guardians are beating to get to this point. The Rockies, A’s, Rangers, and yes, even the Dodgers have all fallen to the Guardians over this series win streak.

While the Guards dropped the third game, seeing Franmil Reyes and Aaron Civale return to the squad is a nice sight, and Myle Straw seems to be getting things back together now that he’s been dropped in the lineup.

Cleveland Guardians and Minnesota Twins recap

Game 1 – Guardians Win (6-5)

The Guardians needed extra innings against the Twins to settle this one. Andres Giminez broke the tie and sent the Guardians into first place with the win. Aaron Civale returned to the lineup and pitched five good innings, while fellow returning player Franmil Reyes had a game-tying home run in the 8th.

Game 2 – Guardians Wins (11-10)

An uncharacteristic bad game from Triston McKenzie, and then later Anthony Castro nearly doomed the Guardians, but a late-inning rally in the 9th helped secure sole possession of first place in the AL Central after six members of the Guards batted in runs. It was a true team effort.

Game 3 – Twins Win (1-0)

Hitting, or lack thereof, was the name of the game on Thursday, as the Guardians closed out the Twins series. Zach Plesac gave up the Twins’ only run, which was the difference-maker in the game, but he looked better this time out as opposed to his last. Still, the Guardians only posted four hits and left the bases loaded at one point.
