3 names to know from the Cleveland Cavaliers Summer League squad
By Chad Porto
The Cleveland Cavaliers have a few players fans should check out this Summer League.
Summer League is right around the corner for the Cleveland Cavaliers. It starts July 7 and will feature a collection of players who are currently unsigned, a part of the Cleveland Charge, and are rookies recently drafted by the Cavs.
Three of the four Cleveland Cavalier rookies will be a part of the squad this year, with Luke Travers, Ochai Agbaji, and Isaiah Mobley all dressing for the Cavaliers this summer. Yet, Khalifa Diop will not. Diop isn’t part of the team currently and is on loan to the Spanish squad Gran Canaria, the team he played for in 2021-2022.
We know the Cavs rookies are going to be interesting and worth watching but that’s not who we’re here to talk about. No, instead we’re looking at players who aren’t expected to be on the Cavs rosters.
So no one under Cavalier contract can appear on this list.
Three Cleveland Cavalier players to keep an eye on during the Summer League
Cameron “Cam” Young
Cam Young is a member of the Cleveland Charge, and man, if you haven’t watched any Charge games last year you may have missed out on one heck of a prospect. In 31 G-League games last season, he averaged 20.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists, while shooting 40% from three. He’s a 6-6 guard/forward who may be able to play his way onto an NBA roster.
Aaron Henry
Aaron Henry is a 6’5 guard who like Young, showed some range while in the G-League. In 27 games last year, Henry averaged 13 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. He also shot 40% from the arc, so there’s every chance he can be a guy on the level of a Young with regards to his shot.
Nate Reuvers
Having played in the Adriatic – Liga ABA league, Nate Reuvers is no stranger to stiff competition. While the former Wisconsin Badger didn’t show much during his time in college outside of solid defense, in the pros Reuvers has upped his scoring ability. He’s a bit more athletic than Dean Wade, but that’s the perfect comparison for Reuvers can be in the NBA. A low-post grinder who can take you out to the wing to shoot. He doesn’t shoot a lot of threes but his production from that range is up since college and should continue to improve.
