Cleveland Guardians potential target: Andrew Benintendi, OF

A Gold Glove winning outfielder who’s currently hitting .300. Yep, will take him…so will every other contender in baseball.

The market is hot for Andrew Benintendi who will definitely be traded by season’s end because he’ll be a free agent at season’s end.

Lots of interest doesn’t bode well for Cleveland because it drives up the price. More teams interested, the higher the asking price and Cleveland won’t give up anything for a rental.

After a down 2020 campaign that saw Benintendi deal with injuries, Boston shipped him to the Royals. I thought there was a chance he could be a long-term option for Cleveland when his free agency finally came due. Alas, his stock has rebounded and now there’s no chance.

Benintendi beat the Royals in arbitration and is earning $8.5 million in arbitration. He should see a significant but on the free-agent market.

Can they get him? No way
