LeBron James will want the team to acquire his son

At this stage in LeBron James’ career, his legacy is secured. He’s done all he’ll be able to do and he won’t change anyone’s opinion of him. Unless he’s going for the NBA all-time scoring title, then there’s no reason for him to keep playing. His titles either secure his place or prove he’s too soft to win without always chasing after good teams. A fifth won’t help him inch closer to the top among those who already don’t think he is, and will only further prove that he has to have All-NBA players littered on his team to win.

No, James isn’t still playing for his legacy, he’s playing because he wants to play with his son at some point. James has always talked about how incredible it would be to play with his son Bronny James, and you better believe if there’s a shot, just an outside shot of that happening, he’ll find a way to will it in existence.

The Cavs, right now, don’t have roster space to give to poppa-James, let alone son-James. Sure if the Cavs were to acquire James via a sign-and-trade, you’ll create a few spaces, but still, you don’t want to lose too much.

So asking the Cavs to take on Bronny for a year or two, when he’s not even an undrafted free agent level prospect currently, would be a mistake. James has a history of making teams draft and trade guys he wants. He would absolutely demand his son to be on the team and get minutes and that would be a disaster.
