The Cleveland Browns have to make a few more cuts heading into Monday.

The Cleveland Browns have 85 active players on their roster at last count according to the roster page on the Browns’ official website. That’s not counting the six guys on IR or Deshaun Watson, who will be designated as a suspended player and will not count against the Browns roster count.

The team needs to cut down to 80 players by Tuesday, and they may release some guys after the game, on Monday, or if someone gets hurt, they may tag them with an Injured Reserved designation to keep the player, though they’ll be unable to play in 2022 if that happens.

The Browns have a few key positions that need to be flushed out, and while it looks like most of the positions have been settled, the center spot and the receiving corp have a lot to figure out.

Three players playing for their jobs against the Philadelphia Eagles

Ethan Pocic

He’s the starter by default, but Ethan Pocic should not be too comfortable. Size isn’t everything, lower leg strength is. Pocic could be 400 lbs but if he keeps getting blown off the ball and into the backfield it won’t matter. He’ll simply be a very large obstacle that the Browns will need to avoid. Size on the line isn’t as important as strength, and one has to wonder if Pocic has the physical strength needed to be a starter.

Daylen Baldwin

A fringe player for sure, but Daylen Baldwin has been consistent throughout camp, practices and so far in the preseason. I know I would rather have him than Anthony Schwartz, especially with Jacoby Brissett. A guy like Watson will throw deep a lot, so a speedster is great to have. Yet, Brissett looks for underneath stuff, so a good pair of hands is key. Baldwin has shown that so far.

Josh Rosen/Joshua Dobbs

I’m counting these as one entrant, because one of these cats is getting cut, but who? So far they’ve both looked good, but eventually, someone has to create separation in the competition.
