Not every Cleveland Browns player looked good against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Cleveland Browns are trying to salvage the season after the suspension of disgraced quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson will be out the first 11 games of the year and managed to negotiate his suspension so that he can come back with enough time in the year so that the year is counted against his contract.

Sneaky.

With each passing practice and game, the Browns are asked to find ways to negate the loss of Watson. Various players have stepped up and raised their stocks in the process. Some haven’t, and others have played so poorly that their stocks have fallen.

So we’re clear, stocks can go up and down without ever actually playing. Drew Bledsoe lost his job to Tom Brady, not because Brady outperformed him (he didn’t), but because Bledsoe was hurt and Brady was winning. Bledsoe’s stock fell without ever doing anything wrong. That’s the case for two of these Browns’ players this week.

Three offensive Cleveland Browns players whose stock fell after the Eagles game

Jerome Ford

Week 1 against the Jaguars saw Jerome Ford really break out and impress. Week 2 against the Eagles? Not so much. It wasn’t due to bad blocking, far from it, the offensive line was crazy good with the run. Yet, Ford didn’t look so hot. There is no concern about his status on the team. He didn’t look good but he isn’t about to be cut.

Ethan Pocic

Yes, Ethan Pocic didn’t play. That doesn’t mean his stock didn’t fall. He looked rough against the Jaguars in Week 1 and then practice didn’t paint a great picture of him. Finally, Michael Dunn came out and laid down the wood on the Eagles’ front four. Pocic will likely start due to the stubborn nature of Kevin Stefanski, but he probably shouldn’t.

Jacoby Brissett

Yes, Jacoby Brissett hasn’t played in two weeks, so how is his stock falling? Because Brissett’s reputation as a player isn’t the best, and fans have been falling for Joshua Dobbs for the last two weeks, thanks in part due to his play-making ability. One fan on Twitter called Dobbs the best running quarterback in the division, simply not true, but there is a Lamar Jackson-like quality about Dobbs. Brissett isn’t athletic, nor does he have a big arm. The more fans see of Dobbs, the more they want him, instead of Brissett.
