The Cleveland Browns are not predicted to have a winning season

The Cleveland Browns are looking at a potentially very down year. The team is without its quarterback and the team is going to rely on an offense that, even with him, has very little in the way of receivers. The team will likely rely on the running game to keep themselves in games, but without a viable passing attack, they won’t be able to keep pace should their defense has issues.

And that defense is going to have issues. The interior defensive line, linebackers, and safeties are rife with concerns. Anything over the top is going to be a moment to hold one’s breath. So it’s not surprising at all that many in the world of sports don’t have the highest opinions of the team this year.

Most are expecting eight or fewer wins for the Browns, with some thinking as low as six, and one as high as nine, but none higher.

Are the Cleveland Browns doomed to fail in 2022?

Sadly, I don’t believe the Browns are going to be good enough to make the playoffs. The team has issues beyond the quarterback position and those may be exposed early and often. No reliable center, receivers who are untested, safeties who aren’t up to par, and one big injury away from a season of despair and regret.

Sadly for the Browns faithful, I have no faith in Jacoby Brissett as a starter and shockingly, even less faith in this defense. The Browns’ defense was among the worst in scoring last year, and the secondary got worse in the off season.

The team is going to have a hard time stopping the run, and an even harder time against the deep ball. Even if Deshaun Watson was on this team, I wouldn’t have them much higher than nine wins for that reason alone.

I think six or seven wins is optimistic.
