The Carolina Panthers will need these three names to step up if they want to beat the Cleveland Browns.

The Carolina Panthers need a big season if head coach Matt Rhule is going to keep his job. The team’s head coach has not had the best of luck during his time in Charlotte and the Panthers are hoping that former Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield can help the team get to the next level, thereby helping Rhule keep his job.

Mayfield has some pieces on offense to work with, namely D.J. Moore, Christian McCaffery, Robby Anderson, and former Browns teammate Rashard Higgins. They may be enough to combat a potentially potent Browns defense, but they’ll need a lot of things to go right if they want to win.

So what three players will the Panthers need to rely on to get the win?

Three Carolina Panthers players who need a big day to win vs. the Cleveland Browns

Baker Mayfield

While Moore is important, the Panthers had him last year and didn’t win. Partly due to Sam Darnold being utterly awful. Baker Mayfield is going to have to do all he can to rejuvenate the offense and with his big-play arm, that may just happen. Though Mayfield has a history of turnovers due to that gunslinger-like mentality, if Mayfield can make big plays and keep turnovers low, the Panthers have a shot.

Christian McCaffery

I love Christian McCaffery as a player, in part because I enjoyed his father so much when he was with the Broncos. McCaffery, however, has had too many dances with the injury bug. He has to stay healthy if the Panthers have a shot to win. He and Moore are a potentially lethal combination but if Mccaffery isn’t healthy then it really doesn’t matter.

Brian Burns

The Panthers had a fearsome duo of pass rushers last year in Brian Burns and Hassan Riddick but Riddick is off to the Eagles and Burns is on his own. He’s a talented defensive end in his own right and should be able to cause some real chaos going up against Jedrick Wills all game. If the Panthers want to win, giving Browns’ quarterback Jacoby Brissett fits every time he drops back is the way to do so.
