Three Cleveland Browns players who upped their stock.

The Cleveland Browns have won their first game of the season since 2004 when Jeff Garcia was the team’s quarterback. The game was ugly and there is a lot this team needs to improve upon as the season continues but a win is a win.

Now we’re going to look at some guys whose stock is up, but a quick few points. Firstly, Nick Chubb isn’t on this list. Why? Because he’s a future Hall of Famer, the best running back in the league and he quite literally can’t “go up”. He is the bar by which all other players, including Myles Garrett, are to be measured by.

Secondly, Cade York isn’t on this list because I believe in symmetry and the power of three, so someone wasn’t going to make the official list but here is the obligatory Cade shoutout.

Three Cleveland Browns whose stock is up after the Carolina Panthers game

Myles Garrett

While he didn’t have the stats you’d think he would against this Carolina Panthers team, he was a key reason why the team had the dominating showing it did in the first half. Garrett ate the young rookie tackle alive, and that should be encouraging. His not being on the goal line though when the Panthers scored was not great. Garrett would get his stats in the second half, continuing his domination of the rookie left tackle.

Kareem Hunt

As with Myles Garrett, Kareem Hunt didn’t have the stats that his back-mate Nick Chubb had, but while Chubb is always “the guy”, seeing Hunt do more blocking was interesting. He isn’t a great first run-blocker and doesn’t get all that low, but what he does do well is let guys take themselves out of the play. It’s a very “offensive line technique”

Donovan Peoples-Jones

Donovan Peoples-Jones outplayed Amari Cooper in the first half in all the ways that you’d want him to. He caught more passes, adjusted to the ball better, and all around out-played the man with the massive contract. Peoples-Jones was the go-to guy, and if he can string 16 more games like this together, then it’d be fair to call him the team’s No. 2 guy.
