3 Cleveland Browns whose stock is up after the New York Jets game
By Chad Porto
The Cleveland Browns looked awful on Sunday but it wasn’t all bad.
The Cleveland Browns were not a well-oiled machine on Sunday. The rushing game was non-existent for the first three quarters, the defensive secondary couldn’t stop anything, and the special teams were a persistent disaster waiting to happen.
That doesn’t mean that every Browns player was bad in the 31-30 loss to the New York Jets. On the contrary, some of the players not only played well but exceeded expectations. So while we’ll get to the three most disappointing players eventually, let’s first take a look at those who gave fans hope.
Here are the three Browns who did their very best in this shocking loss.
Three Cleveland Browns whose stock is up
Jacoby Brissett
The Browns saw a much improved Jacoby Brissett against the New York Jets. While he did have a game-ending interception, the Browns got the most out of him. He stayed underneath all day and did his usual thing but it worked like gangbusters. He went 22-27 for a touchdown and was the only offense the team could muster for nearly three quarters before finally getting the running game going.
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah
Myles Garrett may be the face, but Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is becoming the guy. The Jets avoided throwing to his side underneath for most of the game, and when they did, he was all over whoever had the ball. He forced a fumble in the fourth quarter as well, which could’ve been a game-clincher. He’s been someone who is reliable and isn’t just about the flashy plays.
Amari Cooper
Amari Cooper didn’t break 20 yards on a single reception but he did have 100 yards on nine receptions. He even took in the team’s lone touchdown through the air. So while his big-play skills still aren’t being shown, his consistency at making catches is a huge improvement from Week 1.
