The Good

The Passing Game

Credit to Jacoby Brissett. The Jets’ defense isn’t nearly as good as the Panthers but Brissett looked wonderful. Even though the offensive line failed him often, Brissett made the most and found the big-ticket players on the Browns’ offense, going 22-26 for over 200 yards and even a passing touchdown to Amari Cooper. Brissett’s interception wasn’t helpful, but the Browns’ defense cost the team this game, not Brissett.

Play Calling

I get on Kevin Stefanski quite a bit due to his inability to put together a complete game as a play-caller, but his hubris paid off for him. He over-relied on the passing game early in the game, and after it became clear that the running game was going to be fairly ineffective, Stefanski kept going to the passing plays and it worked. Brissett never looked better in his career and that was in part due to Stefanski. Now he needs to repeat this success against the better teams.

The Defensive Front Seven

While the Browns gave up a lot of big rushes, all in all, the Browns’ front seven was solid and held their own. Myles Garrett looked very good, and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah was all over the field and even forced a fumble on a key fourth-down play.
