Three Cleveland Browns who saw their stock rise after the Los Angeles Chargers game.

The Cleveland Browns pooched away another possible win to fall to 2-3 on the season after losign to the Los Angeles Chargers. The Browns saw Kevin Stefanski mismanage another game, calling some peculiar plays that ultimately cost the team a win, namely that 4th and one play call where the Browns handed off to Kareem Hunt instead of doing a quarterback sneak as they have done in previous scenarios.

Common sense isn’t the Browns’ forte it seems. Yet, there are still players who excel past the bad management of the offense at times. And to be fair, the offense isn’t bad by any means but they’re forced to play perfectly against a defense that can’t stop an actual Atari gaming unit from scoring. So let’s take a look at the players who did step up.

That said, let’s see who reads the whole thing, Nick Chubb isn’t on this list for one huge reason; his stock can’t go any higher. He’s an MVP candidate. He’s been an MVP candidate since he was drafted. It’s really up to the league to figure out what we already know. So his stock can’t actually go up, so he’s not on these lists.

Three Cleveland Browns who saw their stock go up

Donovan Peoples-Jones

In the past few weeks, when Amari Cooper had a big outing, Donovan Peoples-Jones would disappear. When Cooper would disappear, Peoples-Jones would have a nice game. Questions arose if the Browns could actually compliment both guys, and if so, what would it look like? Well, Peoples-Jones showed what he can do when sharing targets. Cooper doesn’t make the list for a simple reason, he’s expected to have bigger performances than what he put out. He’s getting paid $20+ million, and so he’s held to a higher standard.

Jacoby Brissett

Jacoby Brissett threw an interception, can’t deny that. Yet, he’s been making a lot of plays with his arms. Sure, he’s not the hero the team keeps finding themselves in need of, but that’s on Kevin Stefanski. Brissett isn’t a star player, but he’s exceeded expectations nonetheless. So as long as he keeps playing this well every week, the Browns will have a shot. It’s up to Stefanski to find a way to deliver the rest at that point.

David Njoku

David Njoku’s run-blocking improvement is nominal at best. He’s on par to have the same type of season blocking as in past years, at least according to PFF. That said, Njoku has been a more consistent option for the offense. Is he living up to his contract? No, but he’s the best tight end on the team by far and you can rely on him to a degree when you need to make plays.
