Three reasons the Cleveland Browns win

The New England Patriots can’t stop the run

The New England Patriots defense is very effective against the pass, yet, against the run, not so much. The Browns are known for their running game, mostly backed behind All-World runner Nick Chubb. Chubb has never needed a good line to put up big stats and has proven that time and time again. Even though some guys on the line are struggling, as long as Wyatt Teller and Joel Bitonio are mobile, the Browns should be able to give Chubb the crack of daylight he needs to make other defenses tremble. It should be noted that Chubb is the best back in the league at making people miss, and that’s a huge reason why the Browns’ run game is as good as it is.

The Patriots’ quarterback situation

I say this all the time and it’s still true if you have two quarterbacks, you really have none. The Patriots only have a quarterback controversy because neither guy gives you all that much confidence. Jones isn’t pushing the action as you’d hope and is turning the ball over too much and Zappe is being micromanaged due to his limitations. Neither guy should scare opposing defenses.

The perfect offense to match up with

The Browns have a hole in the middle that the Patriots can run through and vice versa. Yet, knowing the Patriots’ passing game with Zappe could be the worst they’ve faced yet (and they have faced some bad passing teams), means the Browns have a shot. The big difference between rushing and passing is that you usually get bigger plays passing and it takes less time off the clock. The Browns and Patriots both love to chew up the clock rushing the ball. Considering how efficient the Browns are at time management, the Patriots will be the ones adjusting on the fly and dealing with the Browns’ ability to keep them off the field. Plus, when they do take the field, their offense is as slow-moving and time-draining as the Browns, so as long as the Patriots nip away at the minutes as well, the Browns may be able to run the clock out in a low-scoring affair.
