Roquan Smith and Robert Quinn are on the trade block and the Cleveland Browns need to strike a deal with the Chicago Bears now.

The Chicago Bears have two big trade pieces that could remake the Cleveland Browns’ defense and save the season. Roquan Smith and Robert Quinn are both reportedly on the trade block and the Cleveland Browns are in desperate need of both men. While the Browns did make a trade for the Atlanta Falcons former linebacker Deion Jones, Jones is declining and will be a free agent this offseason, after agreeing with the Browns to terminate his last year on his deal.

The Browns also need to realize that while Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is great in coverage, that’s the only area he’s truly great in. The Browns may be better off moving him to safety and letting Sionne Takitaki, Smith, and Jones run at linebacker.

While defensive tackle is the biggest issue, if you can get a few good defensive linemen, regarding of listed position, you can improve this team. Especially if Kevin Stefanski and Joe Woods decide to run Jadeveon Clowney or Myles Garrett inside at tackle more often.

Doing so will allow you to get Quinn on the field, and really unleash havoc. The Browns need run-stopping, but they also need some sort of pass rush, because Myles Garrett isn’t the kind of guy who can impact an entire game on his own, and Clowney can’t stay on the field.

Some will say that firing Joe Woods is the answer, but the issue with the Browns is a lack of talent, so if talent is the issue, get better talent. Who cares how many drafts picks it’ll cost, the Browns waived the right to that argument when they have up three years’ worth this offseason.

The Cleveland Browns’ season may not be salvageable but they have to try

In about two or three seasons, the Browns are going to be inundated with money that they’re paying to players who are no longer on the team. The Browns deferred large chunks of money to a later date to build the team currently seen. Contracts like Amari Cooper’s will count against the Browns’ cap long after he’s gone.

He’s not the only example of this.

The Browns no longer have a big window to compete. They have maybe three years, if all things go well, counting 2022. The Browns can’t just give up on this season and need to make so major moves. Even if the team is 2-5 after this week, they have to try something.

Otherwise, this team will be wrecked by the time the disgraced prize of the offseason, Deshaun Watson returns. Watson really won’t turn things around, because the issues aren’t on offense. So unless he can start playing safety, it seems unlikely the Browns will be any better with him.

After all, he couldn’t drag the Texans to a winning season in 2020. So clearly a good quarterback doesn’t make a team better. A good team makes a team better.

If the Cleveland Browns fire Joe Woods then the season really is over. dark. Next
