The Cleveland Guardians season may be over but the team still has a chance for some hardware.

The Cleveland Guardians ended their season in a 3-2 series loss to the New York Yankees, capping off a remarkable season that was defined by youthful energy, comeback wins, and the always fun walk-off endings. While it’s always a bit melancholy when a season ends, that doesn’t mean the team won’t have huge things still to look forward to.

To close out this season, five different Cleveland Guardians have been nominated for the year-end Gold Glove award. The award goes to the best defensive player at their position in each league, and for the American League, the Guardians have five top-three finalists.

Five different Cleveland Guardians have been nominated for a Gold Glove this year. Only the final three get announced, and this year the team can say that five of theirs are in that exclusive crew.

Being nominated this year includes Shane Bieber, Steven Kwan, Andres Gimenez, Myles Straw, and Jose Ramirez.

What Cleveland Guardians have the best at winning a Gold Glove Award

The award nominations are compiled through a variety of metrics and measurements so it’s never open and shut who is going to win. Straw certainly has the best case to win, as while the award isn’t dependent on postseason success, it does help, and Straw’s phenomenal defensive abilities plus his team’s winning ways should look good when voting.

Matt Chapman may win the third base award over Ramirez but again, his success as an overall player will help sway voters, but I don’t think he’ll win the award. I think Giminez will lose clean and come in third in voting.

Straw isn’t the only one I think can walk away with the award, however. I think Bieber and Kwan are not only good candidates, but the front runners to win. Bieber has better hard facts to his name than his contemporaries, while Kwan has more assists and more assumed runs saved through his defense.

So if Kwan, Straw, and Bieber don’t win the Gold Glove Award this year, it’s rigged.
