3 Cleveland Browns whose stock rose against the Baltimore Ravens
By Chad Porto
The Cleveland Browns suffered a huge loss but some players did step up.
It’s been said before and it’ll be said again, if the Cleveland Browns can’t play perfect, they won’t win. The offense is both a big-play machine and unable to generate any consistency at the same time. The team is powered by Nick Chubb and Jacoby Brissett is a solid option. He’s not pushing the pace but he can find his targets.
The issue comes with how the team is managed. Kevin Stefanski is not putting his players in positions to succeed. He’s putting them in unnecessary situations because of his ideologies. Despite that, some guys still shine.
Now, let’s talk about two who were bright lights on this team but didn’t make the list and why. Firstly, Chubb. It’s just about every week this cat is capable of being on this list and that’s why he’s not. He’s the measuring stick. So he can’t have rising stock since he’s the ceiling that every player is trying to get to.
Brissett was also going to be on this list, but he’s been on a few of these so I opted to hold him off for this one.
Three Cleveland Browns with rising stock
Donovan Peoples-Jones
I don’t think Donovan Peoples-Jones will ever be a big-time player but what I like about him is the little things. He’s a good run blocker for a receiver but he’s also very aware of his surroundings. The way he blocked out the Ravens’ defender from being able to down the ball at the one-yard line was huge. It was situational awareness, and it spoke volumes about his abilities.
Sione Takitaki
Sione Takitaki had a few plays against the Ravens which are worth nothing. He had a good tackle for a loss and was solid all day in coverage, but he had a touchdown-saving tackle on a punt that got away from the Browns. That type of hustle isn’t seen by everyone. We saw several times where Myles Garrett just gave up on plays. That tackle by Takitaki kept the Ravens to a field goal and it’s proof of why you should always put forth the effort.
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah
Martin Emerson almost earned this spot, but considering how effective the team was at stopping Lamar Jackson all game, a lot of that credit goes to Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (and Joe Woods). Owusu-Koramoah was drafted for that sole reason and he proved it today. He was a thorn in the Ravens’ side all day.
