The Cleveland Browns may be screwed come Monday Night against the Cinncinatti Bengals.

The Cleveland Browns’ hopes of making the playoff are fading away right in front of their very eyes. To get back on track, the 2-5 team has got to start playing better and executing the game plan more. The team has their-in-state rivals on Monda Night Football, the Cincinnati Bengals.

There’s no telling what the Bengals can do to this defense. It is Halloween, after all, so it’s very possible that the team is in load for one scare after another. The screams of terror may be bad, but one thing even worse is what a loss to the Bengals ultimately means.

A loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night may all but sink the season if it isn’t over already. That would be a disastrous outcome for the Browns.

Three reasons the Cleveland Browns are about to get embarrassed

The team seems to be falling apart

The Cleveland Browns were already struggling to get along prior to the recent losing streak. Now with the recent locker room screaming match, the Browns may be on the verge of quitting on the team. The Browns roster may be ready to check out, especially with the recent rumors that Greedy Williams and Kareem Hunt can be had for a price. If that’s the case, Cleveland may get embarrassed on Monday night.

The Cleveland Browns’ offense can no longer be relied on to win games

People are going to cite the fact the Browns can score points and that most of the losses have only been by a handful of points. That’s true and a great point, but they’re also just 2-5 and don’t have the offense needed to win games. How do I know this? Because they lost four games by one touchdown or less, and while the defense carries that responsibility, the Browns’ offense also has to bare that weight. If the Browns’ offense executed better or were put into better positions to score, then the team wouldn’t be 2-5. The team can run the ball but that’s really it. They can’t rip open a defense and impose their will. The entire offense is predicated on taking what the defense gives you, and that’s great when you’re tied or playing with a lead. But when you’re behind? That’s how you get beat.

The defense doesn’t have the talent

This is the issue above all else. I’m not a fan of Joe Woods’ scheme, as I don’t think a five-defensive back system works as the primary setup. That said, it’s not his scheme that doesn’t work, it’s the players. Week after week we keep seeing Andrew Berry’s hand-picked players stumble and fumble their way through the contest every single game. This is a shallow team and they’ve always been a shallow team. Now fans are starting to see that.
