Donovan Mitchell

Donovan Mitchell may be new to Cleveland but through six games, but he’s scored 30 points five times in six games. He’s absolutely gone off after his trade from the Utah Jazz, and if the Cleveland Cavaliers can find a way to get Mitchell and fellow All-Star guard Darius Garland on the same page, then the rest of the NBA will truly be on notice.

What makes Mitchell so scary is how powerful he is. He’s not the shooter that a guy like Steph Curry is, but Mitchell is able to score from all three levels of the game, and his strength allows him to finish around the basket at a high rate. There is no way to defend him, especially on a team as how-powered as the Cavs.

Jarrett Allen

When it comes to Jarrett Allen, it’s all about the defense. Allen, who has a calm and fun-loving demeanor, is someone who can and does alter the course of the game. His power and defensive prowess are his defining characteristics, and that allows him to alter the course of the game just by existing down low.

Allen has turned the team’s fortunes around with just his ability to deflect shots and alter attempts. Then you realize he can also slam the ball down on offense, and you really have to start asking why the Nets ever thought James Harden was a better option than Allen.
