The Golden State Warriors are hosting the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday.

The Golden State Warriors are haggard. They are not a good team and they are aging out. Steph Curry is still great and should be for a few more years, shooters don’t tend to age poorly. The rest of the team, not so much.

You’re seeing Klay Thompson’s injuries catch up to him, Jordan Poole is a solid player but he’s having a very poor start to his season, calling into doubt the team’s desire to rely on such a late pick. Draymond Green has lost a step and is no longer putting up the same offensive stats or the same defensive performances as even just a year ago.

The less said against James Wiseman the better. The Cleveland Cavaliers have lost to straight but the Warriors are not a good club anymore and the Cavs can easily see this game as a “make right” type of contest. The Warriors are still deadly, for as long as Curry is able to hit his shot, the Warriors will always have a chance.

So let’s take a look at Curry and the two other Warriors poised to be threats tonight.

Three Golden State Warriors the Cleveland Cavaliers have to gameplan for

Steph Curry

Akron, Ohio’s own, Steph Curry, is still that dude. He’s hitting 50% from the floor, 42% from three, and is still one of the league’s deadliest players despite being 34. Offensively he’s as good as ever, defensively, he’s down a bit from recent years but not too off-center from where he’s been historically. This is still prime Curry and Prime Curry needs to be respected.

Andrew Wiggins

I don’t trust Andrew Wiggins as a top-scorer, but his all-around game has to be respected. He’s a solid second option offensively but defensively he’s fallen off some from 2021-2022. For all the praise about his defense throughout his career, he’s often not put up the numbers that support the hype. He’s dangerous on both ends of the court but he’s beatable.

Kevon Looney

Only three players on the Warriors are in the positive in both offense and defense according to RAPTOR, Curry, Wiggins, and Kevon Looney. The 26-year-old, 6’8 center, has taken James Wiseman’s place in the starting rotation and while he isn’t long or tall, he’s a very skilled defender who should help cause some problems for the Cavaliers’ low post players.
