The Cleveland Browns are limping in from a bad trip to see the Miami Dolphins

The Cleveland Browns have fallen to 3-6 on the season, after a disastrous loss to the Miami Dolphins. The Browns looked good in their first drive, a usual occurrence for this team. Then, well then it all fell apart like a poorly constructed Jenga tower.

The Browns season is teetering in the balance. 10 wins are a must for a playoff birth in the AFC this year, meaning the team can truly only afford one more loss against the rest of the field. Not a great situation to be in, as the Browns have the Buffalo Bills and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the horizon.

The Bills are a good team on a tough skid, while the Buccaneers have won two in a row. They’re both tough outs. One more loss means the Browns have to win out to really have a shot at the playoffs, losing both means this season is over.

That said, the season isn’t over just yet, and despite the blowout loss to the Dolphins, some players actually held their own and improved their stock against all odds. Who are these unicorns? Let’s find out.

Three Cleveland Browns with rising stock

Hjalte Froholdt

If you want further proof that it’s easy to play the offensive under Bill Callahan, at least when it comes to running the ball, I give you Hjalte Froholdt, who posted a 90 in that category for PFF. He had a 76.9 overall score for the game but did have a 23.7 grade in pass protection. Considering he’s rarely ever mentioned, as he’s Wyatt Teller’s backup, he earns a spot even if his pass protection was bad.

Harrison Bryant

Harrison Bryant bucked a trend, having a mid-PFF performance but still making the list. Why? Simple, he caught his first touchdown of the year. He had a 63.0 performance on PFF but he had a solid little outing. A spot is warranted.

Grant Delpit

I’m as surprised as you. Grant Delpit led all defenders on PFF (for the Browns) with a grade of 73.2 and 73.2 grade against the pass. Sure, he was bonk against the run (59.9) but we’re looking for some good fruit at the bottom of the barrel. We’re taking what we can at this point.
