The Cleveland Browns losing to the Miami Dolphins really exposed some players going in the wrong direction.

Optimism is not a thing you can find in the Cleveland Browns blogosphere. We asked fans on Facebook what they’d do to help get the team turned around, and most of them were pretty much sold on the concept of giving up. Pretty typical in past Browns seasons, but not so much in 2022.

We can’t even blame Jacoby Brissett, either, he’s been stellar. Not all the time but enough to have more wins than losses. No, this comes down to the game plan and execution from the coaches, as well as bad decisions from Andrew Berry.

It may also come down to some players regressing as part of the season, due to recovery from injury or even age. It’s unknown why these three are here, but they are and we have to deal with it.

Three Cleveland Browns whose stock is way down after the Miami Dolphins game

Joel Bitonio

This one hurts, as Joel Bitonio has been among the best players all year for the Cleveland Browns. With the exception of Hjalte Froholdt, no Browns offensive lineman who had more than 15 snaps was as bad against the pass defense as Bitonio was. Unlike Froholdt, Bitonio didn’t excel in the run game either. It was an awful game for the Browns’ legend, posting just a 52.8 grade overall and a pass-blocking grade of 23.7.

Jack Conklin

For Bitonio, a bad game could just be a bad game. Everyone has them. Bitonio has an 89.3 overall grade right now. That’s impressive as heck. Yet, Jack Conklin is down from last year’s performance and posted just a 38.7 overall on the day. His pass-blocking has been great, but his run-blocking for the year has been up and down, and on Sunday, both bottomed out hard.

Martin Emerson

We’re going to the defense for this one. While you could throw a rock and hit any number of players, Martin Emerson was the one who disappointed the most. I’d wager that Emerson has been the best all-around performing defensive back this season. He bottomed out against the pass, his area that he excelled at all year, posting just a 49.3 against the Dolphins. It’s not an indictment against him, but it isn’t something you can just ignore either.
