Steven Kwan was robbed in his Rookie of the Year quest, a very common thing for the Cleveland Guardians

The Cleveland Guardians saw Steven Kwan get robbed for Rookie of the Year
When it comes to major single-season awards, I’m never surprised when the Cleveland Guardians get royally screwed over, but I’m yet always mad about it. You’d think by now I’d learn to live with the perpetual disappointment of this feeling, but yet, I haven’t. And I won’t. Maybe it’s because the Guardos are *MY* team, maybe it’s because I see Steven Kwan and the impact he made beyond stats, or maybe it’s because I just hate how the MLB and national media go about things when it pertains to small markets.
Now, I don’t have a problem with Julio Rodriguez being the winner. Kwan and Rodriguez were very close. I have an issue with the fact he took all but one First Place vote (29 total), and that Kwan finished 102 points behind him in third place.
Somehow Adley Rutschman of the Baltimore Orioles finished with more points than Kwan, and that’s just wrong. It’s just another example of how voters prioritize power over other talents. In every way possible, Kwan is a better player than both Rutschman and Rodriguez. The only area either men excel at that Kwan struggles with, is home run power.
That’s it.
It’s award season across the board for the Cleveland Guardians
So far, we know that Chris Antonetti is the executive of the year, Steven Kwan, Jose Ramirez, Myles Straw, and Andres Gimenez are Gold Glove Winners, and Ramirez has a Silver Slugger to add to his mantle.
Ramirez is not in the top three of AL MVP voting, while Shane Bieber nor Emmanuel Clase were in the Top 3 of voting for the AL Cy Young. That means the last guy to be up for an award the Guardians can win is Terry Francona.
He’s up for Manager of the Year, which will be announced on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2022 at 6 PM ET.
