The Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills faithful were hoping to see the two teams battle in the Snow Bowl.

Leave it to the NFL to ruin a great opportunity. Worried more about the quality of the contest than the fans’ fun, the NFL has announced that the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills will not be playing their regularly scheduled game in Buffalo after all, in a game man called the Snow Bowl. With the city looking at anywhere from three to six feet worth of snow, the NFL has stepped in and moved the game to Detroit, angering fans in the process.

Taking the game out of the elements completely and putting it in a dome at a neutral site. This makes sense for several reasons. Firstly, the fans who live in Buffalo would have to have to drive in that weather, and that’s not safe. Secondly, the fans would be traveling from Cleveland to attend a once-in-a-lifetime moment, so that wouldn’t have been safe either.

Of course, there’s the player safety aspect of it as well. Whether it’s the travel to, travel from, or just being exposed to the elements for a long period of time. There’s a lot of real-world concern here.

That said, fans are not happy about the move at all. It was going to be a chaotic day of football and fans on both sides knew it.

Moving the Cleveland Browns vs. Buffalo Bills game was the right call for safety and quality but not fun

It’s hard to argue against the NFL for deciding to move the game, considering all of the safety and quality issues that the game was facing. It makes sense, it really does. Any logical person can see that.

That doesn’t mean that the fans aren’t rightfully peeved at the fact they lost out on what would’ve been a wild day of football. Sure, the memes of players playing in six feet of snow, and only seeing little tunnels were cute, but that wasn’t really going to happen.

No, the game would’ve largely been any normal football game in the elements, but while you wouldn’t see Nick Chubb gaining 10 yards in 10 seconds due to him fighting waist-high snow, you would’ve still seen something that not many fans get to see in their life.
