The Cleveland Browns need a win against the Buffalo Bills to stay in the hunt for the playoffs.

The Cleveland Browns have the Buffalo Bills in Detroit on Sunday, and fans aren’t happy about it. It was supposed to be in Buffalo but due to weather conditions that no one can control, the NFL has opted to move the game. The weather is calling for six feet worth of snow, and while some claim the snow, coupled with the lack of a dome is the reason for the game’s relocation, it’d have actually of been relocated regardless.

Weather like that is just not great to drive in regardless of where you’re coming from.

It’s something the Bills and Browns faithful have in common; an acute awareness of snowy football. Yet, the thing that the Browns and Bills differ on is the trajectory of the season. The Bills are riding high, the Browns are barely holding it together.

The Browns need a win on Sunday to keep them in the playoff push with a real chance of making it. Sure, they’re only 3-6 but they have a schedule that, if they win out, could net them a lower-tier seed (or even the AFC North depending on other factors).

To get to the playoffs, however, the Browns are going to need to do these three things to win.

Three reasons the Cleveland Browns can win against the Buffalo Bills

One of the worst defenses against the run

Despite what pundits want to tell you, the Buffalo Bills are actually not great against the run. They’re ranked just 18th in yards per carry against, meaning that while a lot of teams don’t try to run against them, the ones that do find success. The Browns’ only offensive weapon worth talking about is Nick Chubb and he just so happens to be very good at running.

An ineffective running game

The Bills are as bad at running the ball, as they are at trying to themselves. Josh Allen is the leader in rushing yards and he only has in the 400s. Devin Singletary is probably their best true runner on the team and he only averages 4.3 yards per carry. Allen’s ability to scramble has really made the Bills look better than they are at just straight-up rushing. If the Browns can force Allen to be the man in the arena, so to speak, then they may be able to take advantage of his UCL injury.

The Buffalo Bills defense is riddled with injures

Looking through the Buffalo Bills’ defense and we see injury among core pieces. Defensive end Greg Rousseau, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, and cornerback Tre’Davious White are all out with an injury for the game, and star safety Jordan Poyer is questionable and may not play as of right now. This should give the Browns a chance to really hammer the ball and if Kareem Hunt can turn back the clock and give the Browns a Double Dragon offense on Sunday, they may just win the game.
