Andrew Berry not doing anything to improve the defensive mid-season is a fireable offense

Andrew Berry couldn’t or didn’t try to land Ndamukong Suh for the Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns have watched their season slip away week after week and Andrew Berry has, for whatever reason, done nothing to stop it. The news broke this week that the Philadelphia Eagles were landing Ndamukong Suh for the rest of the year, a player the Browns should’ve had their eyes on but seemingly either didn’t or didn’t do enough to land him.

Suh will now join the Eagles for the rest of the year, while the Browns continue to be absolutely awful on defense. Sure, the safety play isn’t great, with some fans wondering if John Johnson III is actually putting in any effort, but the crux of the issue on defense has been the Browns’ defensive tackles.

Made up of exclusively Berry guys, the crop of talent is among the worst the franchise has ever had. Taven Bryan, the team’s loan free agent signing at the position has done nothing for the club, and former Berry picks’, Jordan Elliot and Tommy Togiai are so bad, we are left wondering how they ever got drafted, and as high as they did, in the first place.

The Brows drafted Perrion Winfrey in the fourth round and he’s been an utter disappointment. Winfrey is more active on social media than anywhere else, and he’s yet another example of Berry not actually wanting accountability from his players. Winfrey has been in the dog house all year, and it doesn’t look like that’ll change.

At this rate, the team should just cut him.

While you can excuse someone like Suh signing with the Eagles because they’re a more sure-fire pick to get to the playoffs and potentially win the Super Bowl, that isn’t the only free agent he’s pooched in recent days.

Andrew Berry didn’t even try to improve the Cleveland Browns’ front four

The Browns had a chance for a guy like Jerry Tillery, who was released by the Los Angeles Chargers and claimed by the Las Vegas Raiders. Historically, the former first-round pick has been anything but good but was having a better year in 2022 before he got cut.

The Browns needed to make a move, any move, to show the fanbase that they were trying. The players the team has now aren’t cutting it and everyone but Berry and Kevin Stefanski seems to agree. There is no urgency to improve this team.

Berry famously said he was always looking to improve the team no matter the time of year, but when the team needed him to do just that, he stopped trying.

Missing out on someone like Suh is understandable, why would he want to come to a three-win team? Not even putting in a bid on Tillery? Pathetic.

Berry has failed as a GM time and time again, and this may have been the final straw.
