One former Cleveland Guardians player is already back with the club, so why not a few more?

There may have been no better individual story in 2022 than that of Anthony Gose. Gose, who made his club debut in 2021 with the Guardians, was a long-time outfielder who actually started playing in the Majors in 2012, as an outfielder for the Toronto Blue Jays. He never was able to hold onto a roster spot and went up and down throughout his few seasons in the Majors.

After a trip to Detroit, Gose decided to change things up and transition to being a pitcher. This ended up working out well for the former outfielder, as by 2020 (2021) he was invited and made the Olympic team representing the USA.

Not only was this the first major set of games he was playing as a pitcher but he was among the squad’s best relievers, and helped earn the squad a silver medal. That same year he’d debut with the Guardians at the back of the schedule.

He had a strong 2022 but ended up dealing with some injury issues that will result in him having Tommy John surgery. The club had to remove him from the 40-man roster, making him a free agent but just recently the club re-signed him to a two-year deal.

So, now that Gose is back, we were thinking of other guys who could make their way back to the club.

Honorable Mention: Bryan Shaw

He’s an innings eater, can devour garbage innings like a pig, and would be the perfect player to keep arms fresh in blowouts.
