Ethan Pocic

I think the Cleveland Browns will overhaul the center position the most in 2023. Regardless of how good Ethan Pocic has looked as a run blocker, he has proven he’s not the most effective pass-blocker. Nick Harris keeps getting himself new reasons to not be trusted, and the team should be looking for a viable, long-term and low-cost replacement.

Pocic will likely be looking for a long-term, big(ish) money deal. Sure, he does earn a new deal for his play, but a lot of his improvements this year has been playing for Bill Callahan, and playing in between Wyatt Teller and Joel Bitionio. Why we don’t talk about Pocic being the byproduct of a system more is beyond me.

Yet, Pocic will ask for a big money deal, and as he only has one season, really only five games of really good play, it isn’t prudent to give him a big deal. He’s just not proven it yet, and considering Andrew Berry’s history of giving guys under his watch new deals, Pocic getting one may be a bad idea.

The Browns may bring him back if he’s willing to take another one-year deal, but with Deshaun Watson and Amari Cooper’s contracts jumping up to the tune of $60 millinp per just between the two of them, the Browns won’t have a lot of money to spend. Least of all on a player in the mdist of his first good year in six seasons of the NFL.
