Cavs Top 3: Former Cleveland Cavaliers sink Cavs in disappointing loss to the Utah Jazz
By Chad Porto
The Cleveland Cavaliers fell apart down the stretch to the Utah Jazz thanks to some ex-Cavs players.
Food poisoning, revenge, and a seven-point possession. Seems like the standard expectation for a Cleveland Cavaliers game this season. Jarrett Allen and Isaac Okoro attempted to play for the good guys on Tuesday, but both men were apparently dealing with some food poisoning issues, at least thats what Cavaliers’ head coach J.B. Bickerstaff believes.
That limited their involvement in the game considerably. Then of course there was Jordan Clarkson’s seven-point possession, thanks in part to some shannigans on his part. Clarkson was awarded two different fouls in the back. With 1:22 left in the game, coming off of a Clarkson three-point jumper, Caris LeVert was called for a flagarant foul, allowing the Jazz to cut the lead to 107-106 thanks to a free-throw.
With the Jazz retaining possession, LeVert fouled Clarkson again, sending him back to the line for another three-free throws that Clarkson hit. Both fouls were seen as ticky tack at best. Clarkson, a former Cavalier, wasn’t the only former player doing damage to the team, as Lauri Markkanen went off for 26 points and 16 rebounds with Allen to corrall him.
The two ex-Cavs would be all the Jazz needed to finish off Cleveland, closing out the game 116-114.
It wasn’t all bad news in the game, however. Kevin Love found his way to 6th all time in franchise history for most rebounds, and then on Wednesday, Donovan Mitchell was revealed to have been voted the best shooting guard in the NBA. So it’s not all bad after an annoying loss.
