Cavs Top 3: Evan Mobley gets historic against the Bucks
By Chad Porto
The Cleveland Cavaliers witnessed history from Evan Mobley against the Milwaukee Bucks
The Cleveland Cavaliers saw Evan Mobley take over a game for, arguably the first time in his career. The second-year forward dominated the Milwaukee Bucks, dropping 38 points on the Giannis Antetokounmpo-less squad. His historic night saw him set a new personal best in points, but we also saw a pick-and-roll game with Darius Garland that was next level. At least compared to what we’ve been seeing this year.
The Cavs solidly defeated the Bucks, 114-102.
Mobley and Garland worked well in tandem to snap the Cavs’ two-game skid, but the squad is still just 4-5 in their last nine and needs more consistent play from Mobley and the perimeter defense to really make a name for themselves in the Eastern Conference
While it’d be easy to take away Mobley’s big night and dismiss the Cavs’ win over the Bucks without the Buck’s best player, it’s also important to remember that the Cavs got trounced by a Warriors team missing their four best players on Friday.
Without Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, Steph Curry, and Klay Thompson, the Warriors were able to beat the Cavs 120-114. The Warriors shot 53.5% from three in that game, scoring 69 of their 120 points from behind the arc.
So no, beating a team without their best player is not a guarantee, at least not with this Cavs squad. So we shouldn’t take away from Mobley’s big night. After all, they faced two talented squads in back-to-back games, both missing their top guys and both nights saw wildly different results.
This Cavs team is all over the place, and the only thing consistent about them is their inconsistency.
