3 reasons why the Cleveland Browns may trade Nick Chubb

To get younger at running back
Nick Chubb will turn 28 next season, and while that’s far from old by any means, it’s getting up there for running backs. The long-running theory is that offensive backs hit the wall at 30. That’s not entirely true, some have played well after 30, and others hit the wall way beforehand. The Browns have a young quarterback and a quickly aging team around him. Jack Conklin is nearly 30, Joel Bitonio is over 30, Wyat Teller will be turning 29, and Amari Cooper will be 29 in June.
The Browns have four years to get to the playoffs and win a Super Bowl, otherwise, all of this headache and pain was for nothing. That means maximizing the talent you have while you have them, even if that means a trade of some sort. The Browns could gamble and hold out hope that Nick Chubb at 32 is still an elite running back, but how often does that happen?
And the thing is, that’s assuming Chubb returns to the team. His contract is up after 2024. If the Browns aren’t in a substantially better place to compete, who is to say he ends up wanting to stay? He could very realistically leave in free agency, making it all the more important to invest in some highly touted youth at the position.
