Cleveland Cavaliers finally finding a groove

The Cleveland Cavaliers march on to two consecutive wins following a 122-103 rout over the Indiana Pacers on the road. With a second straight blowout for just their first winning streak since early January, the Cavs slide up to 33-22 in the standings although only 11-16 on the road.

After a simmering start to the first half of the competitive ballgame, Cleveland suddenly erupted with a 25-9 run to corral a commanding lead into the break after connecting on 20 assists only in that first half. That 16-point advantage soon ballooned to as much as 26 in the third quarter with the Pacers firmly in the rearview throughout.

All five Cavaliers starters finished in double-figures in another balanced scoring attack, combining for nearly a hundred points as Darius Garland led the way with 24 points and six assists while Isaac Okoro tallied a season-high 20 markers. On the other hand, Myles Turner had a game-high 27 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocked shots in a losing effort for Indiana.

The Cavs will look to stay consistent

Despite another dominating display against a postseason-aspiring team, with this being their first winning streak since January 5th, the Cavaliers still have a long way to go in proving their worth as a legitimate contender, as consistency remains an issue for this young team.

To avoid the risk of falling all the way back into the play-in territory as they did in a late stumble last season, Cleveland’s meteoric rise to one of the top squads in the ultra-competitive Eastern Conference might only be validated if they manage to chase on the of top four berths that come with homecourt advantage.

As it stands, the Cavaliers are still holding steady in fifth but are still just half a game behind the fourth-placed Brooklyn Nets. Even if they finish in this position at the end of the regular season, getting out of the first round will be tough as the conference is undoubtedly top-heavy.

With only less than a day until their next game on the road against the Washington Wizards, the Cleveland Cavaliers will look to lock in and continue building momentum and this streak going.
