Cavs Top 3: Jarrett Allen is the top man as the Cleveland Cavaliers down the Washington Wizards
By Chad Porto
The Cleveland Cavaliers saw Jarrett Allen lead the way against the Washington Wizards.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have won three in a row on the road, a rarity for this club but a wonderful sight to see. While the winning streak is good, there remains a lingering air around this team involving the future of Kevin Love, who missed yet another game as a healthy scratch. It’s hard to argue with his demotion, however.
The Cavs are winning games, and with more minutes going to Dena Wade and Cedi Osman, the club’s bench play, at least on defense, has skyrocketed over the last few games. That was on full display on Monday as the Cavs manhandled the Washington Wizards, who were without Kyle Kuzma or Bradley Beal.
Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, and Jarrett Allen led the way, with Mitchell putting up his best game in a few weeks. Garland continues to remain steady and was effective on both ends of the court but it was Allen who really stood up and made some noise, as he controlled the paint on both sides of the court and was the high man in scoring for the Cavs.
The team defense was significant and the transition offense was peak, especially with Isaac Okoro in transition. All five Cavs starters went for double-digits in scoring. Cedi Osman once again only played 14 minutes for the Cavs, and Caris LeVert couldn’t hold onto the ball or stop anyone when he was on the court, which again prompts the question; why does Osman get punished for the same things that LeVert does?
The Cavs need to figure out their bench situation, and a trade makes sense to clear some clutter.
The Cavs defeated the Wizards 114-91 in a lopsided outing and moved to 34-22 on the season.
