The Cleveland Cavaliers are not a very predictable team currently.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have not been the offensive juggernaut that we were sold on this offseason. While the team landed superstar guard Donovan Mitchell, who is having a borderline MVP-caliber season, the rest of the team has largely not lived up to the hype. Mostly, when it comes to the offense. Sure the team has lost some firepower in Kevin Love, Lauri Markkanen, and Collin Sexton, but no one could foresee how bad the team’s bench scoring would become.

The team has been up and down all season and has had a hard time knocking off the top cats in the division. The team was able to beat the Detroit Pistons on Saturday, 114-90, helping fluff up the record a bit. The Cavs downed the Pistons and thanks to third-quarter domination, the Cavs were able to get some time off, with only Evan Mobley playing 30 minutes or more on the night.

But the bench still didn’t shoot well. Lamar Stevens led the way with four field goals made for eight points, but Caris LeVert had the bench-high in points with 11. Cedi Osman continues to be cold from behind the line, and Ricky Rubio is starting to play better on offense, but he and Dean Wade are here due to their defense.

Luckily for J.B. Bickerstaff, Kevin Love is only shooting 25% from three in Miami and is averaging 7.5 points per game so far, so it’s not like Bickerstaff should worry too much about that move. It’s always possible Love turns it around as he acclimates to the Heat’s system, but for right now it just looks like the Cavs came into the season with a lackluster roster, to begin with. That’s not on Bickerstaff.

The Cavs are now 40-26 on the season and have the Boston Celtics once again on Monday night.
