Cavs Top 3: Caris LeVert can’t carry Cavaliers past 76ers
By Chad Porto
The Cleveland Cavaliers fell to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night.
The Cleveland Cavaliers saw a huge outing from Caris LeVert off the bench, as the team fell to the Philadelphia 76ers 118-109. With the win, the 76ers take the season series 2-1, with the Cavs being unable to beat the squad when both Joel Embiid and James Harden are playing.
LeVert had an awesome game despite the loss, scoring 24 points, with six assists off the bench, and a BPM of 0. Only Raul Neto (+5) and Mamadi Diakite (+8) posting a better BPM but in far fewer minutes.
One of the big struggles for the Cavs was their perimeter play on both ends of the court. Cleveland gave up 17 three-pointers, allowing 47.2% on the night, while only hitting 14 but on a much higher volume of attempts, making just 34.1% of their shots.
Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland were abysmal from the three-point line, going a combined 2-14, and posting a combined -24 BPM on the night. Mitchell hit 20 points, but Garland settled at just 15. The Cavs are going to have to play much smarter on offense and much tougher on defense if they’re going to hit 50 wins and a guaranteed home-court advantage in the first round.
